this post on O'Reilly Radar about the talk surrounding outsourcing, with the author pimping his forthcoming book on much the same subject. He talks about (from the brief description on the website) the idea of you as an employee seeing yourself as a company providing a service to the employer, even if they are permanent staff, and your career progress as a business plan you execute (I wonder how this (or if) the book will link up with the Life Hacks and GTD ideas?).After reading |
This seem to match well with the half formed ideas I have sloshing around in my head about all the things I should be doing with my own career. Really this is not about outsourcing, as that just the latest stage of something that has been happening for a long time, the ending of the whole 'A job for life thing' (which to me is a really strange concept (I started working about eight years ago)). I do find it equal parts interesting (to see where the whole employee/employer relationship is heading) and scary (because this is effecting how I earn the money to keep me in food, clothes and a roof over my head).
