The Guardian on Blunkett's Bull in a china shop approach and calling for a real debate</a> on the issues, which can only be a good thing (yeah, I've gone soft, if they can make a good case and back it up with research and example plus have some real privacy safeguards).

A US view on the whole thing, making the point that currently here we are in that not too common situation of not required people to carry any form of ID.

Guardian Online on the ID numbers people already have here and all the problems with them. Then on some of the problem the Government have with big IT projects. Not a great record but they do seem to getting their act together with a nice 34% success rate, woo.
