Was very good, a nice break. We were lucky with the weather it only rained on the first and last days, when we were traveling to or from the airport.|
Bristol looked about the same, over cast and raining but the flight was very calm.
We were staying in a Gite that is part of this big old rambling, I guess farm house, surrounded by vineyards (like much of the area), really nice to look at but it got a little draughty.
One cool thing inside was the Hammock, it was the first time I had every used one and it was really comfortable, I now want one here in Bristol.
The vineyards were really just all around for as far as you could see, with little villages or the odd house every so often.
The Village the house is part of is just about 5 or 10 minutes outside the edge of Carcassonne, all old very narrow streets, a mayors office and little shop and a post office, but still close enough to a big retail park with two or three big supermarkets.
Carcassonne itself is nice, lots of cafes, some great restaurants. I can't wait to go back but I must practice my French. I've not spoken french for about 15 years so I'm more than a little rusty.
